Curious Main Event Advertised For WWE Extreme Rules
The PPG Paints Arena are advertising quite an unusual main event...

WWE's Extreme Rules pay per view is set to take place on July 15, 2018 at the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. According to advertising from the venue itself, a rather strange main event is set to take place at the show.
The rumoured match is a six-man tag between the babyface trio of Roman Reigns, Braun Strowman, and Bobby Lashley, and the heel team of Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, and Jinder Mahal.
This appears to be a blend of various ongoing feuds. Reigns and Jinder recently clashed on Raw, costing each other spots in the men's Money in the Bank ladder match. Similarly, Sami Zayn recently attempted to humiliate Bobby Lashley, bringing out three men in women's clothing to act as his 'sisters' in a very poorly-received segment.
It's unlikely that this will be a straightforward six-man tag team match, if it does indeed go ahead. The very nature of Extreme Rules dictates that several matches on the card will be fought under certain rules - so don't be surprised to see a hardcore stipulation put in place.
Debate online has begun to circulate regarding the nature of this 'main event', and whether it will truly headline the show. WWE are often keen to push several matches as main events, particularly on co-branded pay per views - and with every monthly special now featuring Superstars from both Raw and SmackDown, that could well be the case here.
If so, one would expect the show's closer to be a WWE Championship match. The current champion, AJ Styles, is set to defend his title against Shinsuke Nakamura in a Last Man Standing bout at Money in the Bank. Brock Lesnar's next defence of his Universal Championship is rumoured to be at SummerSlam in August.
