D'Lo Brown Wishes DX's Nation Of Domination Parody Segment Had Been Done Without Blackface

In an infamous segment in WWE's history, D-Generation X appeared on the July 6, 1998, edition of Monday Night Raw to parody their then-rivals The Nation Of Domination. 

With many of them in various shades of blackface, DX came to the ring with Triple H as 'The Rock', Road Dogg as 'B-Lo Brown', Billy Gunn as 'The Godfather', X-Pac as 'Mizark Henry', and Jason Sensation as Owen Hart to cut a promo about the faction. 

Discussing the segment on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, D'Lo Brown noted there were no concerns about it at the time but he now wishes DX had done the promo without blackface.

"No, and there have been a lot of stories out there. I can tell you that none of us had any real concerns about it. In retrospect, we could have done that segment without the blackface, and I wish we had. It would have been just as good. Obviously, I wished we changed that and we didn't," Brown said.

"Looking back on it in 2022, I'm not a fan of it. But in 1997/1998, it was a way to get us to go to war. Both the factions were over enough and connected to the fans enough that we can go out there and draw money, build houses, and put up the ratings on TV. We looked at the potential matches, and that piqued our curiosity. I think people look past the obvious elephant in the room."

D'Lo now finds himself in IMPACT Wrestling and he works behind the scenes in talent relations.
