Damian Priest has claimed the United States Championship at WWE SummerSlam 2021.

Priest defeated reigning champion Sheamus in a hard-hitting bout at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas to claim his first Title since moving to the WWE main roster.

The 39-year-old looked like he landed nastily on his hip early in the match, after jumping to the outside, giving Sheamus the advantage.

However, Priest was able to remove Sheamus' mask, unleash a fury on his injured nose, before hitting 'The Reckoning' to pin his opponent to lift the Title.

In defeating Sheamus, Priest ends the Irishman's third run as United States Champion in WWE. Sheamus had won the title from Riddle at WrestleMania 37 Night Two, but his stint as United States champion comes to an end after four-and-a-half months.

Priest, meanwhile, is a former North American Champion from his time in NXT, and has now lifted his first title since debuting on WWE Monday Night Raw, appearing for the first time the night following the 2021 Royal Rumble.

In winning the match, Priest also maintains a run of not losing a singles match since joining the main roster.
