El Desperado Wins IWGP Junior Heavyweight Title At NJPW Power Struggle

New champion!

A new IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion was crowned at today's Power Struggle show from Osaka.

Robbie Eagles defended the title against Suzuki-gun's El Desperado at the November 6 event. Both men battled back and forth for over 15 minutes and the reigning champion tried and failed to apply the Ron Miller Special down the stretch. Eagles instead found himself trapped in a submission a couple of minutes after Despe locked in Numero Dos.

The Sniper Of The Skies tried to escape but after Despe grabbed both arms, Eagles believed he had no choice but to give up, ending his title reign after 104 days and one successful defence of the gold.

Today also begins El Desperado's second reign with the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship. The Suzuki-gun man captured the title for the first time earlier this year at Castle Attack, defeating El Phantasmo and BUSHI for the vacant belt. He then successfully defended it against YOH and Taiji Ishimori before dropping the title to the man he faced today at Dominion in July.
