Eric Bischoff Comments on AEW's And WWE's 'Wednesday Night War'

"AEW’s got to go head to head. There’s gotta be a fight. There has to be a battle."

Eric Bischoff has given his opinion on how All Elite Wrestling can truly enter into competition with WWE.

AEW present Dynamite on Wednesday evenings which, for 18 months, was the same night as WWE presented NXT. However, Vince McMahon's promotion moved their black-and-gold brand to Tuesdays following WrestleMania 37.

The time up against each other led to AEW & NXT's battle being dubbed the 'Wednesday Night Wars' but Bischoff, who led WCW against WWE in the 'Monday Night Wars' in the 1990s, believes AEW need to take away some of WWE's 'real estate' to really get people believing in a fight between the two promotions.

Speaking on Foundation Radio, Bischoff said: "I know everyone wants to talk about what was the ‘Wednesday Night Wars’ comparing AEW to WWE. Here’s what has to happen for that to be viable. AEW’s got to go head to head. There’s gotta be a fight. There has to be a battle. Going back to storytelling – what are the stakes?

"Until AEW gets to the point where they’re delivering a similar-sized audience and start trying to take some real estate – it’s a war! If you want a war, you gotta have a freakin’ war! You gotta do it! AEW needs to take away some WWE real estate and when that starts happening, people will believe the war, and then they’ll be invested."
