Report: Shawn Dean Working Backstage In AEW

Shawn Dean signed with All Elite Wrestling back in March and 'The Captain' has more than one role with the company.

Outside of his work as a talent, Dean is also AEW's extras coordinator, according to a report from Fightful Select. This involves Dean serving as a liaison between AEW and talent the company brings in as extras. 

Dean has been a featured act on AEW Dark since his debut in March 2020 and he has wrestled in a ton of singles and multi-man matches. He has been relied upon to put over the likes of Angelico, MJF and Ricky Starks over the last 14 months and he has teamed with everyone from Fuego Del Sol to Adam Priest. Dean hasn't wrestled on TV in a couple of months, though, with his last appearance coming on March 23 in a loss to QT Marshall. 

The Captain also appears to be popular behind the scenes and Tony Khan gave him a glowing tribute when his signing was announced, writing: "Thank you for your service to the USA, @ShawnDean773, + thank you for everything you've done for @AEW to help us thrive through the pandemic. Your consistent hard work, positivity + reliability have made you so valuable to #AEW; now it's my honor to officially welcome you aboard!"
