Eric Young Reveals When He Re-Signed With WWE

Eric Young joined WWE at the back end of last year

Eric Young was back in the headlines as he made a shocking return to IMPACT Wrestling last week by emerging as the replacement for Steve Maclin to team up with Scott D’Amore at IMPACT Slammiversary 2023. Whilst nothing was officially ever confirmed by WWE, Young was employed by the company before asking for his release this year and re-joining IMPACT following the expiration of his 90-day no-compete clause.

In an interview with Busted Open Radio, Young revealed when exactly he re-joined WWE, given that the company didn’t make an announcement in regards to his comeback at the time.

“For me, when I signed up, end of October, early November, I signed up to play on one team and when it came time to go to work, I was gonna be playing on a different team and personally, professionally and more important for me, morally, I can’t take instructions from a person like that. I refuse, and I’m in a very blessed position where I get to choose and I choose not to work there and everyone’s got their own lives and their own stories and I was going back and forth with a couple guys that are very well respected there. They were saying thank you for leading. I’m not doing it to be a leader or to set an example. I’m doing it because it’s right for me, and it’s amazing I get to make that choice but a lot of guys won’t ever get that choice, guys and girls. They won’t get that choice. I get to choose and I choose not to work for that particular person. I’m sure everyone’s following along.”

Young asked for his release post-WrestleMania season, making it around six months or so of sitting on the sidelines in WWE and doing nothing of note.
