Ever-Rise: We Were Working On New WWE NXT Material The Day Of Our Release

The duo were let go on June 25

Ever-Rise have admitted their surprise at being released from WWE, revealing they were working on new material the day they were let go by the company.

Matt Martel and Chase Parker were released alongside 12 other NXT and 205 Live wrestlers on on Friday 25 June. The duo had been a part of the promotion since 2019 and had even reportedly signed new contracts with WWE in June, only to be let go a couple of weeks later.

Having been on television weekly for a number of months, and starting to build some momentum, Matt admitted it was a huge surprise to be told they were being released, with Chase revealing the duo had been working on new stuff for their team the day of their departure.

Speaking to WhatCulture, Matt confirmed: "Yeah, [we were] surprised to say the least. Surprised to say the least. It seemed to us that we had our whole careers in front of us in WWE. We were on TV every week doing what we wanted to do."

Chase added: ""Since, like, the month of October, we were doing something every week. Especially on NXT. finally getting, like, those... fleshing out those characters, which was always the idea, but it was a slow start.

"For our end, there’s always great communication between...whether it be Triple H, or Shawn Michaels or the coaches at the Performance Center, the writing team, the producers. Great communication all around. So it was… again, that’s kind of why it comes as a surprise because we were still in the process of working on stuff that day. That day!"
