Finn Bálor has teased the return of his 'Demon' character to WWE, saying that this could be an appropriate time to bring back the popular gimmick.

As Friday Night SmackDown last week came to its conclusion, with Roman Reigns leaving the ring following his win over Bálor, the lights in the arena briefly flashed red. Many fans have speculated that the moment could be foreshadowing the return of Bálor's darker, alter go.

'The Demon King' has not been seen on WWE television since February 2019, and Bálor has previously indicated the gimmick may not return for a while, but the former NXT Champion has now suggested fans could be seeing The Demon making a long-awaited comeback, after a rematch with Reigns for the Title was confirmed for Extreme Rules.

When asked by Cultaholic's Tom Campbell, in an exclusive interview, whether The Demon would be returning, Bálor said: "Question Mark, question mark, question mark..." before grinning.

He continued: "I feel like there is a time where everything is appropriate and everything is not appropriate. This could be one of those times. We’ll have to wait and see…"

Reflecting on his match with Roman Reigns last week on SmackDown, Bálor believes the Universal Championship bout was a good reflection of what he as a competitor is about.

The Irishman, who is returning to the United Kingdom with the blue brand for a tour next week, has also hinted that he has 'unfinished business' with The Tribal Chief.

When asked to pick a match that new wrestling fans, unfamiliar with his work, could watch, Bálor responded: That’s very hard for me to pick from a 21-year career, to pick just one match.

"Myself and Seth Rollins have a huge history. We had a main event match at SummerSlam five years ago, where I beat him for the Universal Championship. But I wouldn’t…for personal reasons I’d put it up there for the impact that had on my career and my self belief and being able to adapt to circumstance on the fly in the ring.

"But if you really want to know what Finn Balor is about, watch the most recent match from this past week’s SmackDown, versus Roman Reigns. I got jumped by The Usos before the bell, got low-blowed before the match, and still didn’t tap out.

"There’s a lot of unfinished business with Roman Reigns and we’re going to get to that soon."
