Mark Henry is back in the WWE fold, having announced during his DJ tour of the United Kingdom in partnership with Sweet Chin Disco that he recently put pen to paper on a nostalgia deal with WWE.
The nostalgia deal is different to a WWE Legends deal, according to Henry, and the WWE Hall of Famer exclusively revealed to Ghost Bandit for Cultaholic why he signed the contract.
"A legacy [Legends] deal is you go and do things when they want you to and you represent WWE. You're doing ads, you can do stuff. I'm Mark Henry, if I'm going to do ads, I'm gonna do them for myself. They come with a different pay," Henry said about the differences between his nostalgia contract and a WWE Legends deal.
"What I'm doing with a nostalgia [deal] is WWE has relationships with Mattel and 2K, where they make the video games…That's what that WWE deal entails. The right to use my name and likeness because I own it. They can't use that without my permission because then they would be liable and I would sue them for monies for using what's mine. It was better to sign a deal for them to use my stuff than us to go to a bad place," he continued.
"I'm happy to do it because I have a son that is going to be wrestling, maybe my daughter now...I wanted to open the door and create another relationship so they could go in there and do well."
It was revealed in the Summer of 2024 that Jacob Henry, Mark Henry's son, had signed a contract with WWE. Mark's daughter Joanna is also an amateur wrestler in high school and she finished in fifth place at the state championships in February.
Mark Henry has addressed Hulk Hogan being booed at his DJ set in Nottingham, England.
