EXCLUSIVE: Visual Concepts "Extremely Excited" By Response To WWE 2K23

WWE 2K23 has been widely praised since it's release, which has left Visual Concepts "extremely excited"

Following the game's release on Friday, March 17, WWE 2K23 has so far proven to be another home run for 2K and developers Visual Concepts following a return to form with WWE 2K22. The newest title in the WWE 2K series has been widely praised in recent days, with fans excited about the newest additions to MyRISE and Universe Mode, as well as the video game debut of WarGames.

Speaking about WWE 2K23 with Cultaholic Wrestling's Andrew Hodkinson, Creative Director at Visual Concepts Lynell Jinks noted the response from fans and critics had left the development team "extremely excited", but he also admitted the widely-panned WWE 2K20 "had to happen" for them to reach this point.

"I would hate to speak for everyone but it seems like unanimously, everyone is extremely excited with the response that we've gotten so far. It's a complete contrast from what we experienced with 2K20 to now. I will say, in order for us to pull off what we did, 2K20 had to happen. We had to fall flat on our face, we needed that reality check. We thought we knew what we were doing, we thought we understood the engine that we created and we didn't. Not only did we let you guys down but we let ourselves down as developers as well," Jinks said.

"Luckily we bounced back with 2K22. With 2K23, we had to prove ourselves again to not only maintain everything that we shipped into 2K22 and keep that level of polish, but make it even stronger by adding more features, adding more games, and tightening things up. Everything that we touched on for 2K23 was hard to not only just manage but get it done in a yearly cycle again."
