Fandango Details Why Planned WWE Intercontinental Title Run Was Cancelled

Fandango was in line for a run with the WWE Intercontinental title in 2013

Former WWE star Fandango has revealed that he was set to have a run with the Intercontinental Title, before plans were scrapped.

During a recent appearance on the K100 podcast, the artist now known as Dirty Dango said:

"They were getting ready to put the [Intercontinental] title on me in a triple threat match at one of the pay-per-views post-WrestleMania. I got a concussion wrestling Great Khali. I didn't tell the office about it, and I got a lot of heat for it."

The night after suffering a countout loss to Khali, Fandango wrestled Zack Ryder at a SmackDown taping. After coming back through the curtain, he unintentionally revealed his injury the night before.

"Sometimes when you get knocked out, you go back to where you actually got knocked out. Your wires get all f****d up. So, I stooged myself off and they're like, 'Oh, you worked Khali last [night] on the show'. And I'm like, 'Well, that's when I got knocked out'. And they're like, ‘Well, you didn't tell us'. This is when they started implementing the protocols for concussions, which makes sense," Dango added.

The 39-year-old recently spoke about how the WWE locker room 'got weird' when he started to build up some momentum on the main roster.
