First Match Announced For IMPACT X NJPW Multiverse United 2

First match confirmed for the upcoming IMPACT x NJPW Multiverse United 2

IMPACT and New Japan Pro Wrestling are set to collide once more, with the upcoming Multiverse United 2 event set for Philadelphia’s 2300 Arena, the legendary home of ECW.

Ahead of the event, IMPACT have announced the first match for the show, with new X Division Champion Lio Rush teaming with Trey Miguel to take on the team of Hiromu Takahashi and ‘Speedball’ Mike Bailey, as revealed on Twitter:

“BREAKING: @IamLioRush and @TheTreyMiguel will face @TIMEBOMB1105 and @SpeedballBailey as IMPACT and @njpwglobal present #MultiverseUnited2 on August 20 from the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, PA!”

Takahashi and Rush have clashed multiple times throughout 2023, with ‘The Ticking Timebomb’ successfully defending the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship against Rush at the New Japan Cup in March, whilst Rush would defeat Hiromu in the Best of the Super Juniors tournament in May.

The first Multiverse United show took place in April 2022 at LA’s Globe Theater, the stomping ground of Pro Wrestling Guerrilla.
