Forbidden Door Breaks AEW's Live Gate Record

Won't anybody think of the 'casual fans'?

The 2023 Forbidden Door pay-per-view made history for All Elite Wrestling.

The co-promoted show with New Japan Pro-Wrestling drew $1.2 million to make it the biggest live gate in AEW history, Tony Khan revealed just after the show got underway.

"Tonight #ForbiddenDoor in Toronto is officially the biggest live gate in @AEW history at about $1.2 million (USD), and it's one of the top 3 biggest live gates in the history of pro wrestling in Canada!" Khan tweeted.

AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door aired from Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on Sunday, June 25. The show had approximately 14,000 fans in attendance.

Forbidden Door 2023 won't be AEW's biggest live gate for long. The record is set to be broken when AEW All In emanates from London's Wembley Stadium on Sunday, August 27. Over 66,000 tickets have already been sold for the event for an $8.3 million gate.
