Former AEW Talent Backstage At WWE SmackDown

Could a former AEW talent be joining WWE?

According to Fightful Select, Jose The Assistant (AKA Jose The Assassin) was backstage at the August 16 episode of Friday Night SmackDown in Orlando, Florida. Jose was spotted arriving and leaving the venue with Andrade. Why Jose was backstage is unknown but he does live in the area. 

Jose The Assistant was a part of All Elite Wrestling from 2021 until his release in April 2024. He was initially a manager for Andrade El Idolo but Jose later transitioned fully to managing La Faccion Ingobernable. Jose was also a producer in AEW. 

Shortly after his AEW release, Jose met with Tommy Dreamer, one of the key figures in TNA creative. Jose has also captured a championship in Ethan Page's A1 Wrestling promotion, winning the A1 Outer Limits Title. 

Andrade has been back with WWE since the 2024 Royal Rumble and he is the reigning WWE Speed Champion. Andrade has been feuding with Carmelo Hayes on Friday Night SmackDown, with Andrade having earned two victories over his fellow former NXT Champion, while Hayes won their latest match on August 16.
