Former NWA President Howard Brody Passes Away

He was President of the organisation between 1996 and 2001

Longtime promoter and former NWA President Howard Brody passed away on Wednesday evening, according to PWInsider

Brody had recently undergone a quadruple bypass operation, but had developed an infection which resulted in his untimely death.

Involved in the wrestling industry in various capacities throughout his life, Brody is perhaps best remembered for his time as acting NWA President, between 1996 and 2001.

He briefly appeared on WWE television, alongside Dennis Coraluzzo and Jim Cornette, during the NWA's 'invasion' of the company in 1998, and was on hand to witness Jeff Jarrett beat Barry Windham to win the vacant NWA Title on the January 5 episode of Raw.

Brody also attempted to get New Japan Pro Wrestling a syndicated television deal in the United States during the nineties, and was instrumental in making international distribution deals for Smoky Mountain Wrestling.

In 2005 he co-authored Dusty Rhodes' autobiography Reflections Wrestling's American Dream, and released his own memoir (Swimming with Piranhas: Surviving the Politics of Professional Wrestling) in 2009.
