Franky Monet Reveals She Picked Her WWE NXT Name

"I could be called Sunshine Tuna and I would make it work!!!"

Franky Monet has hit back at fan criticism of her WWE NXT name, saying she came up with the moniker.

The former Taya Valkyrie made her long-awaited debut on NXT on Tuesday, confronting new NXT Women's Champion Raquel Gonzalez.

The former Impact Knockouts champion has now taking to social media to discuss her new name, revealing that she chose both the first name and surname for her WWE title.

Writing on social media, Monet said: "Hey guys, I LOVE MY NAME…..maybe since I picked it. Go figure! I could be called Sunshine Tuna and I would make it work!!! So take a breath, stop complaining and enjoy this evolution and ride with me. Thanks #FrankyMonet.

"And for the record, nobody was going to name me Sunshine Tuna, it was just an example. The name does not make the wrestler. One that’s powerful and strong helps of course but just know we all think long and hard about these things. I’m me, la WERA LOCA. Always, now , forever. Anyways……… yesterday was special. I’m exactly where I’m meant to be. Thank you for all the messages of support. I see you."

When asked where the name came from, she would respond that Monet was in tribute to French artist Claude Monet, while Franky was down to a personal preference for unisex names.
