FTR were in a rush to get to Japan ahead of Wrestle Kingdom 17 on January 4.

Cash Wheeler revealed on Twitter ahead of the show that he was initially set to fly to Japan on Monday at 7 am ET but he had an issue with his paperwork that meant he was unable to get on the flight. Wheeler was then set to fly from Atlanta on Tuesday morning but his flight to the city on Monday night was delayed and then cancelled. This meant he had to drive to Atlanta through the night, arriving at the hotel at 4:15 am ET on Tuesday morning.

Wheeler eventually managed to board a flight to Japan but the FTR member had to quickly dash to the Tokyo Dome, posting a photo of him in a car in Tokyo at 2:20 pm local time, only one hour before the Wrestle Kingdom 17 pre-show got underway. Wheeler then posted a video 20 minutes later of him passing the New Japan Pro-Wrestling store in Tokyo, signalling he would be able to make the show.

Wheeler is scheduled to team with FTR tag team partner Dax Harwood as they defend the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championships against World Tag League 2022 winners Hirooki Goto and YOSHI-HASHI. FTR have been IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions since winning the gold at Forbidden Door on June 26, 2022.
