Gunther Reflects On WWE Clash At The Castle 2022 Match With Sheamus

Current WWE Intercontinental Champion Gunther reflects on his Clash at the Castle match with Sheamus in Cardiff.

In a recent interview with Fightful, WWE Intercontinental Champion Gunther reflected on his Clash at the Castle 2022 title defence against Sheamus. The match was met with critical acclaim, appearing high on several Match of the Year lists come the end of 2022. On the match, Gunther explained:

"Everything happens so fast that it’s very hard to actually sit back sometimes and enjoy or reflect on what happened. [...] Overall, it was great. I think Clash at the Castle was good for me because it was the first big pay-per-view match for me, or PLE as we say now. I could just showcase myself, showcase to the audience what I do. I think the style of match I put on is nothing they have really seen on that scale before. I think that’s why it stood out and why it was special, and Sheamus was a great opponent. He doesn’t stop, so you've really got to put a lot of effort into keeping the guy down."

At the time of writing, Gunther is currently on course to have the longest single Intercontinental Championship reign of all time, with only Honky Tonk Man's total of 454 days still left to surpass.
