2022 had already been an eventful year for 'Hacksaw' Jim Duggan, who continued to battle cancer for the second time.

Now it has emerged that Duggan recently tackled and detained a home invader during a recent break in.

Speaking with Wrestling Inc., the 1988 Royal Rumble winner noted that his home was broken into at around 6:45 PM on Thursday, December 8. Duggan claimed that a man in his mid-20s entered through the front door of his home in Kershaw County, South Carolina. He then took the man down himself, grabbed his .44 calibre pistol and held him there at gunpoint.

Hacksaw and his wife Debra heard other people yelling in the neighbourhood and were concerned that more people would be heading their way, so they turned their Christmas lights off and told the intruder - who was described as 'hysterically frightened' - to keep quiet.

The intruder claimed that people from a nearby home were coming to 'kill' him. Duggan kept the gun on his lap and his hand on the intruder's back until the police arrived.

According to Duggan, the intruder was seeking refuge from a group of other individuals (relating to a separate legal matter) and had pounded on the doors of other homes before climbing over the Duggans' fence and walking in through their unlocked door.

Duggan did not press charges and let the local sheriff's department apprehend the intruder. The WWE Hall of Famer was quoted as saying "Thank God we didn't shoot him".

In a statement posted to his Instagram account, the 68-year-old confirmed that he and his wife were safe and thanked everyone for their concern and well-wishes.
