Hikaru Shida is out of the Women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament after suffering an injury, AEW have revealed.

- SPOILERS AHEAD FOR AEW RAMPAGE -

During the AEW Rampage tapings on May 11, it was formally announced that the former AEW Women’s Champion will be withdrawing from the tournament with Kris Statlander set to take her place in the quarter finals against Red Velvet on next week’s Dynamite.

Red Velvet and The Baddies Section were told the news by Tony Schiavone on Rampage, although Schiavone didn’t disclose the nature of Shida’s injury. As of writing Shida’s injury is still unknown, same for how long Shida is expected to be out of action.

Shida originally secured her place in the tournament with victory over Julia Hart on April 6, and last wrestled on AEW TV on April 27, losing a Philadelphia Street Fight to Serena Deeb on Dynamite.

Shida’s last match was on May 8 for Japan’s Oz Academy, where she, Hiroyo Matsumoto & Rina Yamashita lost to Ozaki-gun in a two-out-of-three falls six-person tag match.
