Hiroshi Tanahashi Suffers Broken Rib At NJPW Capital Collision

NJPW Capital Collision saw Hiroshi Tanahashi suffer a broken rib

New Japan Pro-Wrestling legend Hiroshi Tanahashi has suffered a broken rib, with ‘The Ace’ picking up the injury at the recent Capital Collision show on April 15.

Tanahashi teamed with Kazuchika Okada to take on Aussie Open and then-NJPW STRONG Openweight Tag Team Champions The Motor City Machine Guns at the event, and tweeted the following afterwards: "I went to hospital last night. My rib is broken. Sorry."

This news throws Tanahashi’s planned IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship contender tournament match with a returning Will Ospreay into doubt, with Tanahashi and Ospreay slated to tangle on May 21 at NJPW Resurgence.

Tanahashi was subsequently pulled from the April 16 NJPW Collision in Philadelphia show, with Tanahashi originally set to team with Lio Rush and Tomohiro Ishii against The United Empire’s Aussie Open and TJP.  Tanahashi was still on hand at the show, and engaged in a special meet-and-greet session with fans. It’s unknown at this time how much time if any Tanahashi will miss as a result of this injury.
