Honky Tonk Man Says WWE Are Shorting Him A Day On His Intercontinental Title Reign

Current champion GUNTHER is edging towards the Honky Tonk Man's record.

The Honky Tonk Man is still the longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion in WWE history (though probably not for much longer).

Current champion Gunther is set to surpass the WWE Hall of Famer's record in just 11 days.

According to Wayne Farris, it should be 12.

During a virtual signing with Highspots, the 70-year-old spoke about how he felt about Der Ring General potentially breaking his record and said:

"It's been interesting. I haven't really kept up with it, I didn't know a lot about it. [Fans] ask me about it all the time. I don't know where someone is posting this 453 days. They're shorting me one day and that's not fair. I got the 454 days from Howard Finkel, he was the one who told me".

GUNTHER will surpass the record on September 9, if he is still champion by that date. He will defend his title against Chad Gable on the September 4 episode of WWE Raw.

The 36-year-old recently discussed his thoughts on potentially breaking the record.
