Hulk Hogan provided the unlikely inspiration for a Pokémon character.

Pokémon developers Game Freak recently announced they were the victim of a data leak, within which 2,606 items containing the names and email addresses of current and former employees were accessed.

Details into past and upcoming Pokémon games were also accessed and part of the leak has revealed that Hulk Hogan, along with German philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer and Austrian composer Herbert von Karajan, provided the inspiration for Drayden.

Drayden appears in Pokémon Black and White and Black and White 2. He is the gym leader of the Opelucid Gym in Pokémon Black and the mayor of Opelucid City, specialising in Dragon-type Pokémon. His grandson Drayton appears in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

Part of Hogan's inspiration for Drayden was Game Freak planned for the character to be 201 cm tall with a muscular body like a wrestler and a moustache.

Hogan has been linked to Pokémon in the past, hosting the 10-year anniversary celebrations of Pokémon in 2006.

Pokémon isn't the only thing Hogan has inspired, though, and the man himself recently claimed that Chris Jericho told him that his Learning Tree gimmick is based on Hollywood Hogan.
