UPDATE: WWE Not Currently Planning To Bring Back Brock Lesnar
Reports of The Beast's return were incorrect.
Oct 17, 2024
After reports that WWE were planning to bring Brock Lesnar back emerged yesterday, company higher-ups have acted to make it known that that is not the case.
A new report from Fightful Select quotes one WWE higher-up as saying: "There are no creative plans in place for Lesnar, and if conversations have occurred, we've not been briefed on that".
One source in WWE creative said they would be surprised if he was brought back in the middle of a federal investigation.
Lesnar was due to return to the company in the 2024 men's Royal Rumble match. His appearance, plus matches with Dominik Mysterio and Gunther at Elimination Chamber and WrestleMania 40, respectively, were subsequently shelved after Brock was implicated in former WWE employee Janel Grant's lawsuit against Vince McMahon, John Laurinaitis and WWE.
Fightful's report also noted that WWE went to great expense to have Lesnar removed from the WWE2K24 video game (as well as other properties), while Brock's merchandise was listed at discounted rates.
Fightful had been told that Lesnar's name was one that was not to be brought up on WWE television. This included video packages, promos and on commentary (if possible).
Lesnar was referenced by his nickname by Cody Rhodes on this past Monday's episode of Raw, but this does not reflect a change in WWE's policy.
Brock's last WWE appearance was a loss to Cody at SummerSlam 2023.
