Following the announcement that John Laurinaitis and Kathy Colace were now divorced, further details about how their divorce occurred have been revealed.
The public docket for the Superior Court of Maricopa County, Arizona notes that Kathy Colace filed to divorce Laurinaitis on February 9, 2024. Cole filed for divorce only 15 days after Janel Grant filed a lawsuit against Laurinaitis, Vince McMahon, and WWE within which she accused Laurinaitis of sexual assault.
Laurinaitis through his lawyer initially claimed he, like Janel Grant, was a victim of Vince McMahon. The former WWE Head of Talent Relations, however, performed a U-turn on May 2 and sided with Vince McMahon and his motion to request arbitration in the Grant lawsuit. Laurinaitis' sudden about-turn occurred only one day before his divorce from Kathy Colace was finalised by Judge Brad Astrowsky on May 3.
Among the allegations against John Laurinaitis within the lawsuit, it is alleged that he and Vince McMahon sexually assaulted Janel Grant in Laurinaitis' office, during which they allegedly "cornered her and pulled her in between them, forcibly touched her, before ultimately putting her on top of a table in between them. She begged them to stop, but they forced themselves on her, each taking turns restraining her for the other, while saying 'No means yes' and 'take it, b*tch.'"
Grant was also allegedly directed by Vince McMahon to "serve herself" to John Laurinaitis as his "breakfast" before the work day and "forcible touching" became a daily part of Grant's life while she worked under Laurinaitis in Talent Relations.
John Laurinaitis was one of Vince McMahon's close confidants in WWE from 2001 until his quiet exit in the Summer of 2022 amid the initial hush money scandal surrounding McMahon.
