MVP and Shelton Benjamin tried to take out Swerve Strickland backstage at AEW Dynamite ahead of the former AEW World Champion's match with Bobby Lashley at Full Gear. MVP and Benjamin even thought they had found Swerve after they spotted a man walking around backstage in Strickland's fur coat.

Upon confronting the man, though, it was revealed the coat-wearing person was not Swerve. Benjamin still pinned him against the wall, however, as MVP laid him out with a cane.

The identity of Swerve's decoy was unknown but "2 Smooth" Shaun Smith has since confirmed it was him wearing the coat on Dynamite, tweeting, "Hey it’s me."

Smith is a regular on the Northeast independent wrestling scene in the United States, performing for the likes of 1CW, CZW, and H2O. He made his debut in All Elite Wrestling earlier this month, teaming with Joe Keys in a squash match loss to Lance Archer and Brian Cage on the November 2 edition of AEW Collision.

Swerve Strickland would further gain the upper hand over The Hurt Syndicate later on Dynamite as he appeared from under the ring and took out Bobby Lashley, MVP and Shelton Benjamin following Lashley's win in his AEW in-ring debut.

You can still buy tickets for AEW Full Gear. The pay-per-view will emanate from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on Saturday, November 23.
