Ilja Dragunov Says He Is Destined To Face Gunther At WWE WrestleMania

NXT star Ilja Dragunov wants to meet his old foe GUNTHER on the Grandest Stage of Them All. 

During a recent appearance on Booker T's The Hall of Fame podcast, the former NXT UK Champion was asked who he would like to face off with at WrestleMania, to which he replied: 

"It must be GUNTHER. It must be him. There is no other choice. This is destiny. There is no other match that makes people feel this dimension of emotions that we both can produce, just because we're directly opposites. There is not one person that has taught me more, not one person that has pushed me more, and there is no one person that I can have a better match with on such a high level as WrestleMania. It is impossible because we are the opposites, but we connect and it is something people have never seen before and can reinvent this special thing every time again, especially on a stage like this."

Dragunov will challenge Carmelo Hayes for the NXT Title at No Mercy. Meanwhile, Der Ring General recently broke The Honky Tonk Man's record to become the longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion of all-time. 

Dragunov and GUNTHER (as WALTER) have wrestled each other twice under the WWE NXT umbrella. GUNTHER won the first bout, before Ilja defeated him to capture the NXT UK Title.
