Inaugural Marigold World Champion Crowned
Marigold has its first ever world champion
The Dream Star Fighting Marigold promotion is still in its infancy, hosting its first show just two months ago in May under the management of Rossy Ogawa, with an apparent affiliation with WWE. Yesterday, Marigold hosted its very first PPV event, which saw the likes of WWE’s Iyo Sky competing on the show against Utami Hayashishita.
The main event of the card saw Sareee defeat Giulia in a hard-hitting clash, which saw her crowned as the brand new and inaugural Marigold World Champion. Although Marigold is only a new promotion, this is still a history-making moment for Sareee, who will now always be in the history books for this company.
Sareee competed in WWE between 2020 and 2023 in the NXT brand, being saddled with unsuccessful gimmicks and a lack of strong creative, which were the reasons cited for her wanting to part ways with the company and return to Japan. The woman she defeated, Giulia, is expected to be debuting for NXT in the very near future, with it being heavily believed that she has penned a deal with WWE, which will see her compete in both WWE and Marigold going forwards.
