Indy Promotion Issues Statement Following Backlash To Booking Velveteen Dream

The former Velveteen Dream's campaign to return to professional wrestling ended over the weekend with Patrick Clark being booked by The Destiny Pro Wrestling in Albany, New York. The former WWE NXT talent was booked as a surprise competitor at the event and issued an open challenge which led to him defeating American Muscle Alec Odin.

Dream's return to pro wrestling received an enormous backlash on social media, but The Dynasty have looked to defend their booking of Patrick Clark by tweeting: "Last night, we did what most others wouldn't. We took a risk on a person, & gave them an opportunity for a 2nd chance. A 2nd chance to fulfill their DREAM. We stand by that decision. Thank you to the PACKED house for last night's event! #WearetheDynasty."

The statement was immediately met with tweets calling the promotion "disgusting."

Velveteen Dream was previously a part of WWE from 2014 until his release in 2021. Sexual misconduct allegations have surrounded Patrick Clark since 2020, including an accusation that he sent inappropriate photos to underage boys. EC3 has previously claimed too that Clark secretly filmed other WWE talents in a bathroom without their consent.

Patrick Clark released an apology video in January. He did not directly address the allegations against him but did apologise for his "behaviour" in recent years which led to his firing from WWE. Clark has seemingly been planning to return for some time as Booker T revealed Dream reached out to him in 2023 about a potential comeback.

As part of his comeback, Patrick Clark contacted several pro wrestling outlets about interview opportunities. He was ultimately interviewed by Chris Van Vliet.
