Whilst wrestling promoters may have the best will in the world when it comes to storylines, one injury can jeopardise everything, with plans needing severe rewriting should a major star go down.

All Elite Wrestling have felt this more than others recently, with injuries to top stars such as Bryan Danielson, Adam Cole, and Jon Moxley, amongst others.

A report from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter confirms that these injuries - amongst others - have forced AEW to enact major changes to creative plans, with each change causing a domino effect to come into play producing ripples in creative throughout the promotion.

In the case of Adam Cole, his partnership with MJF had become the hottest angle in the company, with the two closing out the historic All In show at London’s Wembley Stadium in August. Cole would innocuously break his ankle when jumping down from the entrance ramp at Grand Slam in September, and whilst he remains on AEW TV through vignettes with Roderick Strong, his absence has forced a change of plans for MJF.

Bryan Danielson, meanwhile, is set to be out for much of the remainder of 2023. Jon Moxley recently returned from a concussion he sustained at Grand Slam that led to him dropping the AEW International Title to Rey Fenix in an unplanned moment. Fenix has since lost the belt to Orange Cassidy due to his own injuries.
