Ridge Holland was set for a big push on NXT in the coming months. Company officials reportedly see the former rugby league player as "the next big thing" and he was set to feud with Adam Cole following NXT TakeOver: 31.

Those plans came to a screeching halt on Wednesday, though, after Holland had to be stretchered out of the Capitol Wrestling Center. The Yorkshireman appeared to injure his ankle after he set himself for a Pescado from Oney Lorcan and the referee immediately threw up the "X" sign following the move.

WWE provided an update on Holland's injury yesterday during the NXT Injury Report. Matt Camp noted Ridge had a fractured and dislocated left ankle, a dislocated right patellar and a ruptured patellar tendon. The patellar was popped back in at ringside during the commercial break, while the ankle was put back in at A&E.

The NXT Superstar underwent surgery yesterday but WWE did not give an official recovery time. However, the expected recovery time for a ruptured patellar tendon is between 6 and 12 months.
