Ivar Given Time Off By WWE

Ivar set to be out of action ‘indefinitely’

Ivar will be out of action ‘for an indefinite period’ after being attacked by Gallus on the May 14 edition of WWE NXT.

The Viking Raider was laid out by Wolfgang, Joe Coffey, and Mark Coffey during the closing segment of NXT, and the official WWE X/Twitter account confirmed he will be on the sidelines as a result:

“BREAKING: As a result of the heinous attack by #Gallus at the end of #WWENXT, @Ivar_WWE has suffered an injury and will be out of action indefinitely.”

Whilst the Gallus attack was kayfabe the former Raw Tag Team Champion was pulled from a scheduled match against Andrade el Idolo on March 25. Ivar returned to action in April and subsequently wrestled 10 times throughout the month, but has not been in action since the April 30 edition of NXT.

Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE have simply given Ivar some time off "because he’s been working so hard of late." Andrews Sports Medicine in Birmingham, Alabama, however, have posted an image of Ivar, suggesting he could be set to undergo surgery.

As a result of being ruled out of action, Ivar’s upcoming scheduled matches against Tyler Bate on WWE Speed, and triple threat match on NXT have been changed, with Apollo Crews and Joe Coffey respectively replacing the Viking bruiser.

Ivar has been on a singles run ever since tag partner Erik was put on the injured list in September 2023, with WWE management reportedly impressed with Ivar’s solo run ever since.
