Jacob Fatu Relinquishes WWE Tag Team Title On SmackDown

Jacob Fatu is no longer a WWE Tag Team Champion

Earlier this month, Jacob Fatu won gold in just his third ever WWE match as he and Tama Tonga defeated Tommaso Ciampa & Johnny Gargano of DIY to become the brand new WWE Tag Team Champions. At SummerSlam 2024, Fatu’s interference in the main event of the show led to him being “injured” and taken off TV for a couple of weeks. In the meantime, Tonga Loa was seen holding his half of the WWE Tag Team Titles. Many assumed that The Bloodline would be following the Freebird rule when it comes to the belts, but this is not the case.

On last night’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown, Fatu was once again holding this title, but the “Tribal Chief” Solo Sikoa demanded that Fatu relinquish his title and hand it over officially to Tonga Loa. Despite the smallest of hesitance, Fatu complied and gave his half of the gold to Loa, making the former Guerrillas Of Destiny the official WWE Tag Team Champions.

Sikoa explained that Fatu was his own personal enforcer, so he could not be WWE Tag Team Champion at the same time. This ends Fatu’s time with the gold at 21 days.
