Jacob Fatu signed with WWE back in April of 2024 before making his debut a couple of months later to join The Bloodline faction (later The MFTs). However, it was not all plain sailing for Fatu to get himself signed with WWE, because before officially putting pen to paper after an agreement to come to the company, those in WWE nearly decided to back out on the deal.
During his appearance on Stephanie McMahon’s What’s Your Story podcast, Fatu revealed that his addictions nearly led to his signature with WWE falling through.
“This past WrestleMania, your husband [Triple H], I don’t mean to get deep but before I actually got hired — I almost got fired before I got hired because of my addiction and stuff. Your husband, they passed me, they did pass me. It was cause of me. Bruce called, it was all bad. 19 days, I didn’t know if I had a job. Our kids are asking me, ‘Dad, when we moving to Florida?’ I couldn’t even answer them for 19 days because I thought it was done. They brought me up again and your husband said, ‘We’ll give him a second chance, everybody deserves a second chance. But, when he get here, all that gotta stop.’”
Fatu recalled that thanks to support from his wife, he made the decision to turn things around and cut out the drinking issue, ultimately getting into better shape upon his arrival in WWE.
