Jacob Fatu is the new United States Champion after defeating LA Knight for the title at WWE WrestleMania 41 Night One.

The ‘Samoan Werewolf’ was overwhelmingly the favourite going into this bout, and with victory lands his first championship since joining WWE in 2024 in what was a WrestleMania debut to remember, making it two-for-two for the Anoa’i family at WrestleMania 41 thus far.

Knight entered the match knowing that a BFT could be enough to seal the deal, with Knight looking to hit it during the opening exchanges to no avail. Fatu absorbed everything the champ threw at him, but answered back with some pop-up Samoan drops and a lovely mid-air powerslam to keep his challenge alive.

The champ looked to have it sewn up with a gorgeous avalanche German suplex but could only get a two-count, with another BFT attempt countered as Fatu fired back, getting a nearfall of his own after a Swanton Bomb as the crowd chanted their support. With momentum in his favour Fatu went for the double jump moonsault, but Knight was quick and caught him mid-air with the BFT, but Fatu managed to get the rope break. Smelling blood in the water after an avalanche Samoan drop, Fatu nailed two double-jump moonsaults to get the win and land the title.

With this defeat, Knight’s second run as US Champion ends after just 43 days, with Knight having regained the title with victory over Shinsuke Nakamura in March.
