Jake Roberts Thinks It's A "Crying Shame" That Rick Martel Isn't In The WWE Hall Of Fame

Jake Roberts feels Rick Martel should be in the WWE Hall of Fame

With WrestleMania season comes the WWE Hall of Fame, and with it comes debates about the pros and cons of the establishment, never mind those who professionals and fans alike believe should be immortalised in the HOF.

Whilst the likes of Lex Luger, and Chyna (as a solo inductee) are often mentioned as overdue inductees, WWE Hall of Famer Jake Roberts believes it’s a ‘crying shame’ that Rick Martel isn’t already inducted into the HOF, saying the following on the Snake Pit podcast:

"I have no idea [why Rick Martel is not in the WWE Hall of Fame], that's just a crying shame. Probably because he wouldn't come down [from Canada] to do it,” said Roberts.

A former three-time WWE Tag Team Champion, one-time WCW TV Champion, and one-time AWA World Heavyweight Champion, Martel is probably best known for his run as the arrogant ‘Model’ in the late 80s/early 90s, turning heel after walking out on Strike Force partner Tito Santana at WrestleMania V. Martel and Roberts would engage in a heated feud heading into WrestleMania VII.

Martel retired from in-ring competition in 1999 due to injury, several months after his last WCW appearance.
