Jeff Jarrett Names The Main Event Mafia As The Most Successful Faction In IMPACT Wrestling History

Jeff Jarrett says Booker T in particular was "super important" to the group's success.

On a recent episode of the My World podcast, Jeff Jarrett spoke about the importance of the Main Event Mafia in IMPACT Wrestling (then known as TNA.)

The stable's main run lasted from 2008 to 2009, with its core members consisting of Kurt Angle, Sting, Kevin Nash, Booker T and Scott Steiner. Despite not being in the faction, Jarrett believes them to be incredibly important in the promotion's history, explaining:

“The Main Event Mafia was the most successful faction, without question. The ratings, when those guys got together [...] their opponents were AJ Styles [and his faction] Frontline, the younger guys. Me and Mick [Foley] were compassionate with both sides. We were generationally in the Main Event Mafia era, but we also wanted to see the young guys up and coming."

Jarrett also singled out Booker T for particular praise, given that he believed the former WCW and WWE star to be in a frustrating period of his career.

"All of that was reality based, good compelling TV, and Booker was very important. You look at the five guys that were in the Main Event Mafia, it goes without saying.

"I think Booker was frustrated, I think mentally where he was at in his career. [...] By the time he got to us, I think he was burned out, but sometimes his head wasn’t in the right place. [...] TNA was an adjustment. I got it loud and clear. It was an adjustment for him, and from a financial perspective, he was making less money than he made in the two prior stops, so that’s hard. But Booker is super important to the era of The Main Event Mafia and the success of it, no doubt about it.”
