Although Dolph Ziggler was released by WWE on September 21 as part of major post-UFC merger talent cuts, former WWE Head of Talent Relations Jim Ross doesn't expect the former World Heavyweight Champion to be gone from the company forever.

Instead, Ross predicted on his Grilling JR podcast that Ziggler will return to WWE in a different role at some point in the future.

"I don't know that he's permanently gonna be gone from WWE. I think once the dust settles and you start thinking about roles that he could fill, and there are many, not just wrestling. But I was listening to somebody, maybe it was on Busted Open or something the other day, and they were talking about Dolph, and he might be in line for a role much like Adam Pearce is on Raw. If that's the case, then he'll do a great job. Ziggler's a star. You don't just cast stars to the side," JR said.

"So I'm predicting that Ziggler gets back in the game with WWE in some role, but a different role than wrestling. He's a great talker, he's got a great appearance, he looks good, a smart kid. Always been very respectful to me. He's a talent, and I don't think that talents like him come along that often, and knowing how smart Triple H is, they may find a role for Dolph that's just perfect for him at this point in time in his career. Good guy. He could help a lot of companies, no doubt about it," he continued.

"I know he has other interests too. He enjoys doing his comedy shows and things of that nature. I'm a big Dolph Ziggler fan and I hope that he has nothing but success in his career. He deserves it, he's earned it, and I'm just excited to see where he's heading next."

Although Jim Ross sees Ziggler going back to WWE, many have predicted Ziggler will end up at least appearing for JR's current employers in All Elite Wrestling. Ziggler's brother Ryan Nemeth is already a part of the promotion.

Ziggler is subject to a 90-day non-compete clause following his release and he is unable to appear for another company until late December.
