Joe Hendry and Roman Reigns

His name was said in Indianapolis, Indiana as TNA’s Joe Hendry was a surprise entrant in the Men’s Royal Rumble match, entering at number 15.

The crowd went wild for Hendry and he responded with offence to much of the field except Sheamus, who was simply enjoying watching Hendry go to work.

Everything came crumbling down for Hendry when Roman Reigns entered at number 16, however, as the TNA World Champion failed miserably against Reigns, quickly eating a Spear and being thrown over the top rope.

Hendry teased months ago that he would be a surprise entrant in the Men’s Rumble and it was rumoured in January that a top TNA star had been discussed within WWE about appearing in the Royal Rumble. Hendry certainly fit that definition after he defeated Nic Nemeth for the TNA World Championship at Genesis on January 19 and there were further signs when Hendry was advertised to be in Indianapolis for WrestleCon.

Hendry made several appearances on WWE NXT in 2024 as part of the working relationship with TNA and he proved to be hugely popular with the NXT crowd, even main eventing NXT No Mercy when he unsuccessfully challenged Ethan Page for the NXT Title.
