John Cena Addresses WWE Retirement Speculation

John Cena on speculation about a WWE retirement

John Cena prompted wild speculation about his in-ring future following his return on the March 6 edition of Monday Night Raw to set up his WrestleMania 39 match with Austin Theory. Following a tweet from WWE showcasing his return, Cena replied"Last night was the first time I entered the arena and had the thought that it might be the last time. I'll never be able to put into words how much I love the #WWEUniverse."

Cena has since clarified his "might be the last time" comments, telling AP News

"I tried to put it in words in Twitter. I guess I didn't explain myself correctly. It was the first time I came out into the arena knowing that this has a definitive end. Normally, you come out, you get all excited, OK, this is the next one and I'm waiting for the next one. I'm not done, of course. I made that statement accepting a match at WrestleMania so I know I have at least one more in front of me. But what I was trying to convey was, that was the first time I looked at all that excitement and energy and realised this is the twilight of that journey."

How long Cena will continue his in-ring career is unknown but a match between the 16-time world champion and Logan Paul is reportedly "on the table" for a future show. Cena has largely focused on his acting career since taking on a part-time WWE schedule in 2016.
