Jon Moxley Vs. Tetsuya Naito Official For NJPW Windy City Riot

Jon Moxley will take on Tetsuya Naito at NJPW

New Japan Pro Wrestling are heading to the Wintrust Arena in Chicago, Illinois on April 12 for their Windy City Riot event, and it is already shaping up to be a noteworthy night for the promotion.

During last night’s Battle In The Valley event, Jon Moxley outlasted Shingo Takagi in a tremendous no disqualification match. In the aftermath, Moxley took to the mic and set his sights on Tetsuya Naito. Moxley noted that the one thing he has his eyes set on in 2024 is Naito, and issued out a challenge for the Windy City Riot event.

Naito recently defeated SANADA to become the new IWGP Heavyweight Champion at Wrestle Kingdom 18. Prior to Windy City Riot, Naito will be putting his belt on the line at least once before then, taking on SANADA in February at NJPW’s New Beginning event. If Naito retains and keeps the gold until April, his match with Moxley will be for the IWGP Heavyweight Title. This would mark Moxley’s first ever match for NJPW’s top prize.

The matches for Windy City Riot thus far are as follows;

  • Tetsuya Naito (c) vs. Jon Moxley - IWGP Heavyweight Championship
  • Mustafa Ali vs. Hiromu Takahashi
