Josh Alexander Named IMPACT's 2021 Wrestler Of The Year

The Walking Weapon wins Wrestler of the Year

IMPACT Wrestling's Year-End Awards continued on the latest edition of IMPACT on AXS TV on Thursday, December 30.

Along with naming the Knockouts Tag Team of the Year and Match of the Year, the promotion revealed Josh Alexander was the Wrestler of the Year award winner.

The Walking Weapon cut a short promo following the reveal, noting his happiness at being given the award, especially since Kenny Omega had been IMPACT World Champion in 2021 and several other big names had worked in the promotion throughout the year.

2021 has been a stellar year for Alexander. Following the break-up of The North in late 2020, The Walking Weapon began the year in the X-Division and climbed the ranks before winning the X-Division Title at Rebellion in April. He would then have several widely-praised matches defending the gold before he activated option-c to challenge Christian Cage for the IMPACT World Title at the Bound For Glory pay-per-view.

At that show, Alexander defeated Cage to become world champion but the 34-year-old only held the title for a matter of minutes before Moose cashed in his Call Your Shot briefcase to leave Bound For Glory with the gold.

Alexander has continued to pursue the IMPACT World Championship since the pay-per-view while also beginning feuds with Minoru Suzuki and JONAH.
