Karrion Kross Vacates NXT Championship Due To Injury
The title has been held up...
Aug 27, 2020
Just days after winning the NXT title from Keith Lee, new champion Karrion Kross is vacating the belt, due to an injury he sustained in the match.
Kross revealed on Wednesday night's edition of NXT that he sustained a separated shoulder during the course of his victory on Saturday night at NXT TakeOver XXX, and is in no condition to defend the title. Following that comment, Kross left the championship belt on the canvas, and WWE would later confirm the vacancy.
There is no timetable on how long Kross will be out of action.
This marks the second time that the NXT championship has been vacated. In March of last year, Tommaso Ciampa's eight month reign as champion came to an abrupt end, as the result of a serious neck injury. Johnny Gargano subsequently defeated Adam Cole at the next TakeOver to fill the vacancy.
Plans on how this vacancy will be filled have not been made public at this time.
NXT's next TakeOver is reportedly scheduled to be held on Sunday, October 4.
UPDATE: The vacancy will be filled on next Tuesday's edition of NXT, in a four-way, 60-minute Iron Man match between Finn Balor, Johnny Gargano, Adam Cole, and Tommaso Ciampa.
