Kenny Omega Comments On IWGP United States Heavyweight Title Loss At AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door

Kenny Omega addresses his loss at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door

Kenny Omega's reign as IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion came to an end at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door as The Best Bout Machine was defeated by Will Ospreay in one of the headline matches at the June 25 pay-per-view. Will Ospreay scored the win after connecting with the Tiger Driver '91 and following up with the Hidden Blade and Stormbreaker.

Omega addressed losing the title on Twitter, writing: "I lost and Will was the better man tonight. The US belt is in good hands. Keep Don away from it. #AEWxNJPW #forbiddendoor."

Ospreay has also addressed his title win, saying in a post-match backstage promo: "England, Ireland, France, Italy, Spain, America, Canada, Japan, just name someone, anyone. I'm the last world beater of this generation. Ain't no one doing it like me. I am the best in the world, and tonight proved irrelevant. Kenny, any time you want to settle this, for the tiebreaker, [indistinct]."

Ospreay then had a brief conversation with Don Callis after The Invisible Hand interfered in the Forbidden Door match. Ospreay looked to avoid forming an alliance with Callis, though.

Following his win, Ospreay will compete in the G1 Climax 33 that is set to get underway on July 15 and run until August 13. Kenny Omega, meanwhile, will continue The Elite's programmes with Blackpool Combat Club and the stable of Don Callis & Konosuke Takeshita.
