Kenny Omega Wants Singles Match With Shingo Takagi

Kenny Omega is back in NJPW and wants to face Shingo Takagi

Kenny Omega made a triumphant return to New Japan at Wrestle Kingdom 17, with Omega defeating Will Ospreay for the IWGP United States Championship in an instant classic.

Seeing as he is in possession of a sanctioned NJPW title, it looks as though Omega will be spending some time in NJPW going forward as well as his AEW commitments, with Omega telling Tokyo Sports where he wants to defend his title:

“I would like to do it either in New Japan or AEW. When I was the U.S. Champion (the first time), many of my defences were in Japan. So I would like to do it not only in the U.S. but also in Japan,” said Omega.

As for what he’d like to achieve during this renewed run in NJPW, Omega was clear:

“I want to challenge for the IWGP World Championship, but I also want to fight Shingo Takagi someday. The match between myself and Keisuke Ishii versus Takagi & YAMATO at Dragongate ‘DDG COMES BACK’ before I first joined New Japan was a very interesting match. Since then, I always thought I could have a good singles match with him… I didn’t have a chance when I was in New Japan, but now Takagi is also at the top. I think it’s the best timing,” continued Omega.
