Kevin Nash Recalls Giving A Young John Cena Advice

You cannot underestimate the importance of t-shirt size

WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash has recalled the advice he gave a young John Cena at the beginning of his WWE career.

Big Sexy didn't give Big Match John any pointers on his in-ring work, but rather some style tips that he felt would help the rookie.

Speaking on his Kliq This podcast, Nash said:

"When they would hand out the nWo shirts, guys would be like 'give me a medium', because they'd want it skin f*cking tight.

I'd always tell them to give me a 3X or the biggest I could get because, I told John [Cena] and he asked me for advice, and I said 'Always wear a baggy t-shirt, especially if you're not going to work in it, because when you take it off, there's that 'holy f*ck [from the audience], that guys got a good physique', as opposed to f*cking having a t-shirt sprayed on you".

The former WWE and WCW World Champion then joked that:

"If you look, throughout his career, he always wore the oversized t-shirt. I think when you really look at his entire career, that's probably the most important thing. That big f*cking t-shirt".

Though they never met on television (outside of a brief interaction in the 2011 Royal Rumble), Cena and Nash clashed several times in tag matches on non-televised live events in the fall of 2011.
