Kevin Owens has finally undergone neck surgery after the procedure was delayed for a couple of months due to requiring further tests and opinions. The former Universal Champion is now officially on the mend and beginning his road to recovery.
Fightful Select revealed that Owens underwent a successful surgery on July 18 to surgically repair his injured neck, which looks set to rule him out for a long time. The original expectation was at least a year out of action, with the forecast seeing him missing WrestleMania 42, although it still remains unknown how exactly he will heal and recover.
Owens recently commented on not ruling out retiring due to his neck injury, being uncertain of a return to the ring when asked about his future. In the lead up to WrestleMania 41 earlier this year, reports circulated around Owens’ status for the show, before he emerged on Friday Night SmackDown to announce that his scheduled match with Randy Orton at the Showcase Of The Immortals was off and he’d need an extended time away from wrestling due to his neck.
