A new IWA Caribbean Heavyweight Champion was crowned on Wednesday's episode of MLW Fusion: Alpha.

King Muertes faced champion Richard Holliday for the gold in a Caribbean Rules Match on October 20. Holliday was beaten down by CONTRA Unit earlier in the episode but the champion noted he would still defend the gold against Muertes in the main event.

Once the match got underway, there was interference from Ikuro Kwon which allowed Muertes to connect with a Straight-To-Hell Flatliner on the outside. Muertes then rolled Rich back into the ring and covered him for the victory.

Initially introduced by Savio Vega in 2019, the IWA Caribbean Heavyweight Championship had been held by Holliday since he stole the gold. Booker Cesar Duran announced last week that he had purchased IWA and planned to restore its honour.

Having been Mil Muertes in Lucha Underground from 2014 until 2018, King Muertes made his Major League Wrestling debut in January of this year as part of Azteca Underground.

The Opera Cup also continued on Wednesday's Fusion: Alpha and Calvin Tankman defeated Matt Cross to advance to the semi-finals.
