Konnan Confirms Tony Khan Was Furious About FTR Losing To Dragon Lee
FTR dropped the AAA tag titles to Dragon Lee minutes before he announced signing with WWE
Konnan has confirmed that AEW owner Tony Khan was furious about FTR losing to Dragon Lee.
Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler lost the AAA World Tag Team Titles to Lee and Dralistico on December 28 in Acapulco, Mexico. It was subsequently rumoured that Khan was upset because Dragon Lee immediately vacated the titles and announced that he had signed with WWE. A face-to-face meeting between AEW and AAA then repaired the relationship between the two promotions.
Speaking on his K100 podcast, Konnan said: "I can confirm to you 100 percent [Tony Khan's anger at WWE] is real and he was really pissed off when Dragon Lee beat FTR".
He added that he approached Khan about inducting Rey Mysterio into the WWE Hall of Fame out of respect, due to the business arrangement between AAA and AEW.
"He has Pentagon and Fenix and Taya [Valkyrie] and he's got people under contract that we use, that literally started in AAA. I get along with Tony but I did tell him that I'm gonna [induct Rey Mysterio in the Hall of Fame] and he said, 'Yeah, very good, very logical,' because he knows we're boys," Konnan added.
Konnan stressed that Khan was 'not a hater', but that there is sometimes bad blood in the wrestling business.
